About me

I am writing this blog as a personal account of how I am rehabilitating my knees after bilateral partial knee surgery.
I am Tom Waterworth, born 7/3/61, so currently 61 years old,182cms tall and 84Kgs. Originally from Lisburn Northern Ireland. I moved to the Isle of Man in 1983 where I still live.
I started and ran a shopfitting company from 1983 until last year, August 2021, when I retired.
I have been involved in rugby for most of my life, playing until my early 40’s and still coaching. Running was always something I also enjoyed, mostly fells and plantations around the island but had to stop when my knees got too painful and started to swell after runs.
I took up crossfit in 2013 to stay fit and really enjoyed it. I started to compete in the masters category, a lot of the time with my wife Rose, in pairs competitions. My last competition was the European and Teens throwdown, which was run online during Covid.
I now also coach Crossfit at Crossfit IOM and my rehab will be largely based on getting myself back to taking part and enjoying the sport which I enjoy so much.
